On 2 May 2025, Professor Christian Bueger from the University of Copenhagen visited KIMS. Professor Bueger talked about the book Understanding Maritime Security (Oxford University Press, 2024) that he recently published with Professor Timothy Edmunds. His presentation was followed by an in-depth discussion on a range of topics, including different understanding of what maritime security entails, threat perception, Maritime Domain Awareness, space security, and emerging threats. This event was joined by Professor KIM Suk-kyoon (Hanseo University/former Chief Commissioner of Korea Coast Guard), Dr. YOON Yung-sik (retired ROK Navy VADM-L) and Professor JEON Chang-Bin (ROK Naval War College). KIMS was represented by President Vice Admiral (retired) WON Tae Ho, Dr. CHUNG Sam Man (Director of Center for Maritime Security), Dr. KANG Seung Mo (Research Fellow), Mr. LEE Jae Hyeok (Associate Researcher), Ms. KANG Hyewon (research intern) and Ms. JEONG Minhwa (research intern).
