On September 10, 2026, Mr. Hideshi Tokuchi, President of the Research Institute for Peace and Security (RIPS) in Japan, paid a visit to the Korea Institute for Maritime Strategy (KIMS). On the KIMS side, VADM Taeho Won (President), Dr. Samman Chung (Director of Center for Maritime Security), Dr. Seung Mo Kang (Research Fellow), and Mr. Jae Hyeok Lee (Associate Researcher) attended the meeting. President Tokuchi conducted his presentation titled “Japan’s Effort to Enhance Its Security in Today’s Dangerous and Disorderly World”, and shared his insights on major security issues in the Indo-Pacific, Japan’s security efforts, and potential Korea-Japan cooperations. The two parties discussed many other agenda, and pledged to continue active exchanges between KIMs and RIPS.
